 Jake's Fishroom

"Greetings and thank you for visiting my fishroom. My name is Jake Wand and I reside in the Texas Hill Country. My fishroom is a work in progress and currently occupies a portion of one of my garage bays. Being that the main purpose of my fishroom is for breeding and observation, I purchased used tanks and built the racks myself to keep costs down. Most fish I keep are cichlids from Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika which were purchased from club members, club auctions, and sponsors. I've left room in the garage and already have plans for expansion if and when I need more tank space. Please enjoy your visit and check back regularly as I update my fishroom."

Shot of set-up from entrance of garage. Tanks are currently only using one side of my garage. The racks are constructed with 2 x 4's. Water changes are performed weekly, tanks are drained with a garden hose and refilled with another hose

This rack holds a 45 gallon on top, 55 gallon on bottom, two 15 longs, and a 20 gallon.

The top rack will hold four 10 gallon tanks and the 90 gallon on bottom. The racks are built to hold the tanks at least 16 inches from the bottom for quick siphoning and added storage.

There are two 20 longs on top and a 135 gallon tank on bottom. The backs of the tanks were spray-painted black.

Two 45 gallon breeders.

A closer shot of the 90 gallon tank. This tank had a busted butted seam. The tank was completely disassembled and resealed using GE Silicone II. The tank is currently cycling.

Copadichromis azureus fry in the 20 gallon tank.

Yellow lab fry in a 5 gallon grow-out tank which sits atop the refrigerator.

Lamprologus multifasciatus in a 15 long.

I think it's a new variant of frontosa.
